AromatherapyFirst documented in Egypt, over four and a half thousand years B.C. plant oils have been used for their healing properties. The essential oils extracted from plants has been described as the "life force" of the plant. The word "Aromatherapy" was coined by the French biochemist Professor RM Gattefosse, who during the first World War, used essential oils on soldiers, and found that many oils greatly accelerated the healing process. An aromatherapy massage, depending on the oils used can relieve stress, help with insomnia, calm and sooth or uplift the mind, body and spirit, to name but a few uses. Your therapist will advise you as to suitability of oils and as to any contra - indications after a preliminary consultation. Advice can also be given on the uses of essential oils in the home. |
